Sustainability has always been present in all our activities, processes, operations and strategies. We have zero tolerance for any social or greenwashing bad practices. 
 

We feel comfortable being part of the supply chain of the most demanding brands and retailers, in which the right product will always be produced in the right way and according to the highest available standards. We focus on deliver more than economic value for our customers and for ourselves.
 

For that reason and for many years we have been designing strategies and goals to promote collaborative action and stimulating a sustainable positive performance in five areas: People, Planet, Community Support, Innovation and Governance.

Message from our HR 

At Somani we care about our team. 
 

For us, our team includes all the people who directly or indirectly have an active role in the production of our garments.
 

Our factory is based in Portugal and it is our responsibility to create a safe, healthy, and fair working environment for our people, and for workers throughout our supply chain. 
 

As an EU company, we follow the European Community Law and respect the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Social Charter. We are members of BSCI and we conduct regular on-site social responsibility audits throughout our supply chain in a policy of constant commitment to ensure the best labor practices.
Somani has sought to find ways to differentiate itself, in order to conquer a unique space as a reference employer, training center and technical and professional education hub’s. 
 

People development is one of the priorities. The results of this model reflect an average employee duration at Somani of 23 years and an average annual turnover of less than 3%.
 

The supply chain is a key area of focus for our sustainability ambitions, as it allows us to have a greater impact beyond our own walls. We are using various opportunities along our supply chain to reduce emissions and efficiently use the materials and resources we have. We are also setting standards for working with people and the environment, thanks to our sustainable supplier management strategy, which we constantly and consistently monitor with our Code of Conduct for suppliers. All our production is monitored by an ERP software and it is fully traceable.

In Somani we are committed to contributing to the prosperity of communities in which we live, work, and raise our families. Guided by the belief that helping others succeed makes our communities strong, we have a proud history of giving to organizations that unite, focus, and mobilize efforts to ensure donations make a meaningful, tangible impact. 
 

- Donations to Portuguese association against cancer;
- Donations for the kindergartens in the city;
- Internships for students from local professional schools.

Planet

The commitment to preserve our environment was embraced by Somani. We are acting in the following areas:
 

1) Showing a real interest in research and in the use of new sustainable raw materials, such as recycled and organic yarns. For this we are already certified in Gots, OCS, RCS, GRS, FSC and Oeko-tex Standard 100. We are also participants in the BCI Cotton program.
 

2) Optimizing production processes by introducing technologies to monitor and reduce waste and polluting residuals and testing new circular business model for our clients. For this we want:
 

-Chemical-free production
-Reduced water consumption
-Minimize the CO2 footprint
-Create 100% recyclable waste to promotion the biodiversity
 

3) Spreading awareness among our employees and customers and rest of stakeholders so that they can be more respectful of the environment.

The factors of good governance of sustainability are aimed at meeting the company’s long-term objectives, including risk management mechanisms, internal policies and practices that direct the company and connect it with different stakeholders. At Somani we talk about issues such as ethics, transparency, anti-corruption, organization of the governance model and complaints mechanism.
